P. Cuéntanos sobre la Red Adelante. ¿En qué iniciativas has participado?
Adelante es una Red latina de Salud y Educación, donde cada uno de nosotros se siente valorado, escuchado y como que estamos en un espacio seguro donde nos tratan con valor y dignidad.
Adelante nos brinda todo en nuestro idioma aplicando la justicia lingüística y dándonos las herramientas para prepararnos y apoyarnos en nuestro liderazgo, con entrenamientos, eventos familiares, talleres educativos para los padres, capacitación de consejeras de lactancia, certificando a proveedoras de cuidado infantil como Amigas de la lactancia en sus hogares, Cafecitos en escuelas con charlas de interés para la comunidad, Navegadores de Salud.
Donde cada uno de nosotros nos sentimos parte de la Red porque toman en cuenta nuestras voces y experiencias que brindamos a la mesa, somos parte de la toma de decisiones, aumentando nuestra capacidad de creer en nosotros mismos y despertar el líder que llevamos por dentro.
Mi rol en Adelante es Coordinadora del programa donde tengo la bendición de participar directamente con mi comunidad en Alcance Comunitario ,coordinando eventos familiares, Consejeras de Lactancia, Navegadores, etc .
P. ¿Explica más sobre tu posición de Campeón de la comunidad?
En mi posición de campeón de la comunidad, tuve la bendición de ser parte de las Coordinadoras de Adelante, brindándome la oportunidad de trabajar y conocerlas mejor a Lorena Garcia y Paulina Erices, que han sido de bendicion en mi vida. También me dio la oportunidad y la bendición de ser parte de NOW Learning Community y conocer a personas maravillosas de 10 estados diferentes quienes han colaborado y convivido en conferencias y entrenamientos conmigo.
P. ¿Porque te has involucrado en este tipo de liderazgo?
Me he involucrado en este tipo de Liderazgo porque me interesa apoyar a mi comunidad
para que se den cuenta de las oportunidades y recursos gratuitos que existan, y que no se encuentran a menudo por que muchas veces no estan en nuestro idioma, por eso me involucre para que más personas de mi comunidad aprovechen de las oportunidades, tomando en cuenta que los más beneficiados son nuestros niños
P. Sabemos que Adelante sirve y trabaja en una comunidad latina donde el español es el idioma principal para las familias con las que trabaja. ¿Por qué es importante que las comunidades reciban servicios en el idioma en el que se sienten más cómodos? ¿Cómo ha centrado Adelante el idioma español en sus reuniones y eventos comunitarios y cuál es el impacto?
Al ser parte de Adelante donde todo es en nuestro idioma, nos hace sentir bienvenidos y valorados. Nos apoyan con la interpretación y es un espacio donde convivimos con más personas de nuestra cultura. Para mí ese es un gran impacto en nuestra comunidad: Saber que tenemos un espacio seguro y donde somos tratados con dignidad y respeto.
P. Si New York Times escribiera una historia en la primera página sobre la comunidad Adelante, ¿qué le gustaría que dijeran? ¿Qué le gustaría que el mundo supiera sobre las familias en la Red Adelante?
Adelante es una Red Latina de Salud y Educación que influye la familias y organizaciones en el Estado de Colorado, cambiando la manera en en que la comunidad Latina es tratada, brindando oportunidades de crecimiento personal y laboral , ofreciendo oportunidades de empleo. Tener representación en las mesas directivas en los distritos escolares y Salud pública de Colorado, habilitar las consultoras de lactancia y las proveedoras de cuidado infantil, Amigas de la Lactancia, amigas de amamantar en casa. Adelante marca una diferencia en Colorado.
Apoyar a organizaciones ofreciendo Sobre Mesa que son charlas educativas a la hora del almuerzo para crear conciencia para entender a la comunidad ,culturalmente hablando, y las necesidades y retos que enfrentan las familias latinas en Colorado.

Q. Tell us about the Adelante Network. What initiatives have you been a part of?
Adelante is a Latin Health and Education Network, where each one of us feels valued, listened to and offered a safe space where we are treated with value and dignity. Adelante offers us with everything in our language by applying language justice and giving us the tools to prepare and support our leadership, with trainings, family events, educational workshops for parents, training of lactation counselors, certifying child care providers such as, “Amigas de la lactancia en sus hogares”,Friends of Breastfeeding at home, coffee shops in schools with talks of interest to the community, health navigators.
Where each of us feels part of the network because they take into account our voices and experiences that we bring to the table, we are part of decision-making, increasing our ability to believe in ourselves and awaken the leader that we carry within.
My role in Adelante is Coordinator of the program, where I am blessed to participate directly with my community through coordinating family events, community outreach, Lactation Counselors, Navigators, etc.
Q. What does your role as a Community Champion look like?
In my position as champion of the community, I was blessed to be a part of the Adelante team of Coordinators , giving me the opportunity to work and get to know Lorena García and Paulina Erices better, who have been a blessing in my life. It also gave me the opportunity and the blessing of being part of the NOW Learning Community and meet people from 10 different states, who have collaborated and experienced conferences and trainings together with me.
Q. What brought you to this type of leadership?
I have been involved in this type of leadership because I am interested in supporting my community to make them realize the free opportunities and resources that exist, and are not found because it is not often in our language, that's why I got involved so that more people in my community take advantage of the opportunities, taking into account that those who benefit the most are our children.
Q. We know that Adelante serves and works in a Latino community where Spanish is the main language for the families you work with. Why is it important for communities to be served in the language in which they are most comfortable? How has Adelante centered Spanish language at your meetings and community events, and what has been the impact?
Being part of Adelante where everything is in our language, we feel welcomed and valued. They support us with interpretation and it is a space where we live with more people from our culture. For me, that is a great impact in our community that we know we have a safe space and where we are treated with dignity and respect.
Q. If the New York Times were to write a front page story on the Adelante community, what would you want for them to say? What would you want for the world to know about the families in the Adelante Network?
Adelante is a Latino Health and Education Network that is impacting the families and organizations in the state of Colorado, changing the way in which the Latino community is treated, providing opportunities for personal and job growth, offering employment opportunities. Having representation on boards of trustees in Colorado school districts and public health, certifying lactation consultants and child care providers such as, “Amigas de la lactancia en sus hogares”, Friends of Breastfeeding at home, Adelanta makes a difference in Colorado.
Support organizations by offering “Sobre Mesa” which are educational Talks at lunchtime to create awareness to understand the community, culturally speaking, and the needs and challenges facing Latino families in Colorado.
